This Indenture made and entered into this 14th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Twenty seven Between John G. Holeman and Hannah his wife of the County of Anderson State of Kentucky of the one part and Joseph Griffey of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John G. Holeman & Hannah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Joseph Griffey the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & thereof doth release and discharge the said Joseph Griffey, hath this day granted bargained and Sold and by these presents doth grant bargain Sell and confirm unto him the said Joseph Griffey his heirs Executors and Administrators for ever a tract of Land lying in the above named County and State on the waters of Salt River formerly occupied and Belonging to the heirs of Saffield. Beginning at ash and walnut Stump Running South 67° East 139 poles to a stone corner in Ellis’ line, thence South 7° West 30 poles to corner four feet east of a large oak tree standing by the road marked as a corner thence South 71° West 18½ poles to a stone corner, thence South 24° W 31 poles to 3 Sugar trees Growing out of one root, thence North 63° West 137½ poles to a large white oak & red oak, thence North 269° East 86 poles to the Beginning containing Seventy nine acres to have and to hold the above described lot, be the same more or Less together with all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said Joseph Griffey his heirs Executors and administrators forever and all the estate, right title and interest of him the said John G. Holeman and Hannah his wife of in and to the promises unto him the said Joseph Griffey his heirs Executors and administrators and do forever warrant and defend against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever.

No. 91 Deed Holeman to Griffy, Examined & delivered to Jos. Griffy, Jan. 23, 1827

                                                                                          Anderson County To Wit

I Nelson C. Johnson Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that this Deed from John G. Holeman and his wife Hannah Holeman to Joseph Griffeywas this day produced to me in my office by the said Grantors and acknowledged by the Said John G. Holeman to be his act and deed, and the said Hannah Holeman being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared that she did freely and willingly Sell and deliver the said Writing and Wishes not to retract it, and acknowledged the said Writing again shown and explained to her, to be her act and deed and consented that the same may be recorded. Whereupon the said Deed, Together with the foregoing certificate, hath been duly admitted to record in my office                          Given under my hand this fourteenth day of August 1827
